Drill & Color Guard

The Drill Team is comprised of a platoon or a squad and its commander. To execute the drill sequence properly, the commander must give orders for his or her platoon to follow. Every part of the platoon is essential for the proper execution of the drill sequence. Every cadet in the platoon is only as strong as its weakest link. The training is long and hard work (the commander’s determination in setting the example of a well disciplined drill cadet exemplifies the importance of every young cadet working as a team.)

The chain of command in the platoon is always highly respected and acknowledged. Though it is the commander's platoon, it is the squad leaders’ responsibility to take charge of his or her squad and reassure that all cadets are present or accounted for.

Leadership must be shown in all aspects of the platoon, from the top brass to the lowest ranks. Each and every cadet will learn, train, and perform in the same manner and at the same time as upper classmen in their platoons.

The Color Guard is one of the most noticeable extra curricular activities within the Army ROTC program. Being part of the Cadet Color Guard gives the cadet the insight into how to properly present the national colors for selected events throughout the school year. This will expose the cadet to the different methods of presenting the colors as each service has a slight difference in the way the drill is conducted. The Color Guard consists of four highly motivated cadets that take pride in the presentation of the national colors at many events.
